Vogue

Ten minutes before closing-time, I stormed into the shop. No need to cut in line – and take my rightful position in the hierarchy – , the other clients were just looking around. I walked up to the counter, and ordered: “Half a pound of Milano and half a pound of Santos, medium-coarsely grinded for the Krups Espresso machine”. The man behind the counter looked impressed. I waited impatiently, while he prepared my order. I paid and rushed out, leaving behind the looks of admiration from the other – obviously inexperienced – clients.

Around the corner of the coffee-roasting house, I burst out laughing. No idea what I just ordered: I had just memorised the shopping list of a desperate coffee-connoisseur… With the right attitude, you can fool the world. Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it!

Dinner and a movie

“Lets do something romantic tonight”

Just like that, completely out of the blue, this line left my mouth. Boredom off course, nothing on TV, finished the dishes, me on the sofa, Love behind the computer.

“Sure, what do you wanna do?” he replied. Stunned by the fact he actually wanted to leave the rattling machine for a couple of hours, I needed a minute to think. “A movie?” I suggested, not straying to far from the ‘watching coloured things moving on a screen’-theme that has kept us busy for the past 3 weeks. “Which one, then?” Oh, oh. 7.30 PM, movies start at 8 or 8:15 PM. Only 15 minutes to decide. Normally, we need about three hours. It’s the usual – couple – dilemma: rom-com or a thriller. The solution: compromise. In turns. So, what did we watch last time? Think, Solly, think! Troy? No, that was with the girls…

“Shrek”

“What?”, I say absent-minded, puzzled by the funny noise My Love appears to be making, yet occupied with remembering movies I watched lately.

“Shrek , Two, the movie!” (I can almost hear the ‘doh!’ and ‘you stupid woman!’)

So we went out to watch Shrek 2. Not your standard romantic movie, but I can definitely recommend it for a date. We laughed throughout the film. A lot. We giggled our way back home. We kissed…

Public announcement

First of all: I have too much to do to write a proper post now. Laundry, shopping, coffee with mum… Secondly: I have no idea what to write about. Euro 2004 is over – Greece is European Champion against all odds… Le Tour has started, but I aint gonna write about a bunch of cycling guys…

So, post a topic in the comment-thingy, come back later today to see if and what I wrote, in the meantime: check out these party-pics.

Hush, shoo! Get back to work!

Surplus

My Love and I live together. Officially since 3.5 years. Actually since the start of our relationship, 6.3 years ago. 2.5 years ago, my Love decided to return to school. (“Perfect” timing: I just finished uni and was ready to enjoy the luxurious life of a double income… Not!) Anyway, because his school was in another town – 2 hours travel away – and he had to start at 8:30 AM rather often – my Love is definitely not a morning person – he decided to rent a tiny apartment there. He only stayed there (maximum) 3 days of the week, and the ‘pied-a-terre” came in quite handy when we wanted to party in the “Big City”. He sublet the apartment, when he was in Delhi and returned to it 3, 2, 1 night a week for the remainder of this semester.

The semester finished, only one internship and the writing of his thesis to go. My Love decided to terminate the tenancy of the apartment. Yesterday we went over there to empty the apartment. We decided to incorporate the stuff – furniture, books – he collected there during his stay there, into our house. Bad idea. Two television sets can be handy, but what on earth do I need TWO waterboilers, TWO microwaves, FOUR beds and THREE couches for?!

Deja-vu

Portugal vs Greece…

I bet no one expected the final of Euro 2004 to be similar with the first match…

Those were the days…

Today used to be the date that I personally considered to be the start of summer holidays. “Goodbye school /uni /fieldwork/ offshore; Hello 6 weeks of absolute freedom!”

Not this year. This first of July brings depressed people and crappy weather.
