Happy Leap Day!

Didn't you wake up this morning (or afternoon, I know, it's Sunday) with the feeling: today is a special day? A once-in-every-4-year-experience? I did. Come on, think beyond your hangover. It's the 29th of February... What a lovely date! A date to celebrate! Forget those in-laws, grandparents, walks in the park: leap day is a day for parties (and yet another great excuse to get drunk on Sunday!)

Dear State Lottery,

Today I heard on the news, that a prize winner still has not claimed the 5 million euro jackpot, he (or she) won almost a year ago. According to the rules, now you have to hand the money over to the Dutch treasury.

So, how about you give the money to me? It would be a tax deductible expense, as I am a great charity (female, MSc Geology, unemployed). I would even let you keep a third. Half? 75%?

Think about it, dear state lottery, civil disobedience is da bomb these days (San Francisco mayor: you rock!).

Yours sincerely,

ps. my mail address is in the sidebar...

Let it snow!

750 km of traffic jams (runner up in Dutch all-time traffic jam ranking), huge delays at public transport, railways and airports... But: what a lovely view it is!

Winter Wonderland outside (I think I'll stay at home today...)

To lick or not to lick

Yet another excuse for men: oral sex is linked to cancer of the mouth. Damn!

Research by the International Agency for Cancer Research (IARC) in Lyon amongst 3300 persons has provided powerful evidence that oral sex can cause mouth cancer. Doctors have found a link between mouth cancer and a sexually transmitted virus named HPV16. The IARC research showed that people with mouth cancer ànd the HPV16 virus had performed oral sex three times more often that persons from the (healthy) control group... By the way: the chances of infection with HPV16-virus (hence mouth cancer) are equally shared by cunnilingus and fellatio and the biggest cause for mouth cancer remains smoking! XXX

Happy 6th anniversary, sweetie!

Confession

For over a decade, I have managed to ignore all Dutch television soap operas, but now it has finally happened... I am very addicted to the twice-daily internet soap Jong Zuid... I haven't missed an episode yet (thanks to their archive!).

Thong song

Close your eyes.
Try to remember Disney's original "Fantasia" movie.
Hold this thought.
Try to remember Sisqo.
Combine the two.

Dancing hippos are the bomb!

New! Nuevo! Nouveau!

Is it the working DSL connection, the boring jobless life or a combination of both? Anyhow, the (few) frequent visitors of this site must have noticed: my blog's lay-out has changed completely. A little bit by Blogskins and a lot by me!

So: do you like it? Or not? Please comment! The "old" lay-out can be reviewed in the archives section.

GOOOOAAAAL!!!

I can imagine that this Indian soccer team tried to make the sport (sorry, men) less boring, but I think they over-did it just a little.... It must have been a great to watch for the supporters (of the winning teams, that is), though I think the stadion speakers might have lost their voices.

Personally, I only watch soccer games between Australia and any Polynesian country (LOL).

Return of the Queen

Here's.... Solly!

Do I need to say more?! I am back, and hopefully for good! As long as the hardware keeps doing its job... It is great to live in the fast lane again (can you imagine that I had not seen the Paris Hilton thing yet?! Snap fingers for Punkeydotcom)

Deaf, numb and blind

I have been silent for a while and I will remain silent for a little bit longer... Of course, totally against my will!

I'll cut the drama and tell y'all my shores: my DSL is not working. Yet it took 5 days of 0900-phone calls, a lot of "hold please" and several referrals to others (until I returned to the first person...), before I found out on my own that the culprit was in fact my modem. So, I sent it off to its manufacturer and they will repair it - thank god for a 5 year warranty! A bit of a downer is that I now have to work with an analogue modem... Back to the stone age, that slow!

So, be patient. Bare with me, cross your fingers, light a candle and pray for the fast recovery of my DSL modem!

Your milk or your life!

A cow went for a stroll in a German bank...

I.M.

One of my parent's cats has been put to sleep last night. He was 18 years old. He suffered from braindamage, paralyzed back paws... Old age in general, I suppose.

Kraak (in English: Crow) had lived with my parents since 1992 and got his name because he was black and his inability to meow properly. Instead, he produced a "Kraa-ouw" sound.

I'll definately miss him!

Just the three (?!) of us

Yesterday I was depressed about the (temporal) absence of my love, today I am about his presence. Why, you ask?

Well, the past couple of days, he was physically here, but his mind was not. When I asked him what was the matter, he just sighed. Yesterday, he admitted to me, there's another, he's in love with... And it gets even worse! This morning, the phone rang. My love picked it up, gave one-syllable answers and rushed out of the apartment. I checked the number. Local, but unfamiliar to me. I dialed it: a woman's voice at the other end. I hung up. Half an hour later, my love returned, big smile on his face. He said:"I would like you to meet my new love." He took her to my apartment and now he's in my wintergarden, touching her... I can hear her excited noises...

I know this is only a temporal fling, he will eventually return to me. But until then, I'll have to accept his new lover! I have secretly taken a photo of my rival, see how pretty she is? I can't compete with that?!

Silence, my dear!

Funny how fast you can get used to someone around again... I had the house for myself for 6 months, but my love returned from Asia (not one of the chickenflu countries!) last Sunday. Today, he is at school and I actually think it's quiet.... (However: I do have both computers to myself again.)

Nipplegate

After they gave the most talked-about show ;-) at the Superbowl, Justin and Janet have admitted that it was not an accident... They thought it up after the final rehearsals and it is said, that a red lace garment was supposed to remain when Timberlake tore off the bustier. But widespread questions remain about the intent... Why wear such a cool piercing, if you're not gonna show it?
